Sovner Center
The Robert D. Sovner Behavioral Health Resource Center (Sovner
Center) is an outpatient mental health clinic located in Danvers,
Massachusetts, that offers psychopharmacology and psychotherapy services to those with a psychiatric diagnosis, while specializing in the treatment of individuals with a dual
diagnosis of developmental and psychiatric disabilities.
The Sovner Center seeks to improve the quality
of life for people with disabilities through consultation,
collaboration and coordination of care. Our experienced team
of physicians and clinicians provides services in a manner
to ensure that individuals and their families, other care
providers and advocates are active collaborators in the process
of growth and change.
The clinic is licensed by the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts Department of Public Health and accepts Medicaid,
Medicare and some third-party insurance providers.
In addition to the clinical services offered
in Danvers, therapy is also available at several outreach
sites in neighboring cities and towns. For more information,
please call 978.750.6828, or e-mail sovner@bridgewell.org.
START Clinical Services
START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Respite and Treatment)
provides community-based, proactive crisis intervention services
and crisis prevention planning for individuals who are dually
diagnosed with developmental and psychiatric disabilities.
START clinicians provide proactive crisis intervention
services through clinical consultation.
In addition, the development of crisis prevention
plans is a major focus of our work. The purpose of a plan
is to assist providers in intervening proactively in order
to avoid the need for accessing emergency services, and to
prevent unnecessary inpatient hospitalizations. The Massachusetts
Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) funds START Clinical
Services, and is the sole referral source for these services.
The START team is uniquely qualified to provide
consultation, education, evaluation, crisis plan development,
intervention, behavioral-treatment planning and direct support
for this population.
START Respite Services
START Respite provides a therapeutic environment in which
short-term treatment and assessment, emergency and planned
respite services are provided. The respite center can accommodate
up to six individuals, and provides around-the-clock staffing.
Although the program is designed for short-term stays, the
length of respite can vary greatly depending upon the needs
of the individual.
