Affordable Housing

Bridgewell has long been recognized as a leader in providing safe and affordable housing in Lowell and Lynn for individuals with disabilities, the homeless and individuals with a dual diagnosis.

Housing opportunities range from rooming houses to apartment living, from rental subsidies to voucher programs.

Bridgewell provides ongoing maintenance and capital improvements to all its properties, including interior and exterior renovations, carpentry, painting and landscaping.

Shelter Plus Care
The program administers 45 rental subsidies to the homeless and disabled. Those accepting the subsidy must agree to the case-management services provided by the Lynn PACT. The Lynn Housing Authority maintains the referral and waiting list.

Single Room Occupancy
The program offers 30 subsidized housing units to homeless individuals. The building was recently renovated with HUD funding.

Representative Payee Services
Bridgewell payee services help transition homeless individuals to permanent housing situations and teach individuals money management skills needed to maintain a dwelling. Staff members provide assistance in locating suitable housing in Lynn or Lowell and are contracted to assist in the management of client finances, paying rent, utilities and other bills. In addition, case management services are offered by the Lynn PACT.

Mainstream Choice Voucher Program
Bridgewell administers 200 housing vouchers for very-low income individuals who are disabled and their families so that they can afford safe, decent and affordable, privately owned housing anywhere in Massachusetts.

Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments. The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program.
